Happy Fri-Yay!

Another week has come and gone, my how time flies.

Today we supported Surkhab and Srimanya as they competed in the SJA speech completion, and what a day it was. They both spoke beautifully. Srimanya spoke about Malala Yousafzai and her fight for the right for young girls and women to have education. Surkhab was up next, she gave the audience a glimpse into the life of the late Steve Jobs and his great contributions to the world. They will be uploaded to the blog very soon, but her is a picture of your winners!

Both girls did such a great job in the weeks that lead up to the competition. They both memorized and executed their speeches with such ferocity and I couldn’t be more proud of them. Not only did they both get up on the stage and deliver passionate speeches, the were able to both place in the completion; Srimanya goes home with a  2nd place medal and Surkhab went home with a 1st place medal. The third place winner was Joshua from Ms. Hung’s class. Great job grade 4s! The finalist chosen on tomorrow will compete against the students from the Maples Academy on Thursday, February 15!

We kindly ask that you take a moment to review your financial statement and complete the information in the package and make any necessary changes to your place of residence, employment, email changes or any medical information that the administration should be aware of. Please be aware that in order to secure your child’s enrolment, it is imperative that you submit your re-enrollment package and fees no later than February 12, 2018 at 4:00pm. Jump Rope for Heart - St. Jude’s Academy is please to be holding a Heart and Stroke Foundation Jump Rope for Heart event on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018. All money raised will support the Heart and Stroke Foundation in their mission to promote children’s health and fund vital heart and stroke research. Jump Rope for Heart is a great way for kids to be active and to help those in their community by donating their pledges to heart disease and stroke research. This year marks Jump Rope for Heart’s 36th Anniversary and the Heart and Stroke Foundation is striving to get 1 million kids jumping in close to 4,000 schools across Canada.

Our school has set a goal of raising $ 1000.00

Please help support your child’s fundraising efforts by registering them online at and send out donations request emails to friends, family, and colleagues. Each student was sent home with pledge envelopes if you prefer to collect donations in-person. Please ensure that their pledge envelope is returned on the day of their school’s Jump Event Day.

We thank you in advance for your support.

Clothing- Please ensure that you are sending your child to school with proper outdoor gear! It is still very cold and some students are not coming to school with all of the proper clothes to keep them warm. Students will not be kept inside for recess if they do not have the proper gear. So let's stay warm and bring all hats, scarves, mits, jackets, snow pants and snow boots.

And remember, email if you ever have any questions.

Have an awesome evening,

Ms. Samuel
