Unit of Inquiry:
Today the grade 4s worked on completing their wanted posters and wanted announcements for their novel study packages. For tonight, their task is to complete the chapter reading and complete the activity connected to it.
Character Playing Card - Chapters 28 - 30
You
have met some pretty cool characters along the road! Your task is to create a
character playing card on a character of your choice! Here are the items you
need to include on your playing card:
- Name/Level
- Height/Weight
- Profession
- Strengths
- Weaknesses
- Intelligence
- Charms
- Defences
Remember, you have been using your prediction and visualization skills, but use what you know from the text too. And if you're still not sure, go with your gut! This is just an interpretation.
Today the grade 4s began working on their summatives. Their task is to compare an aspect of the medieval times to the same aspect of present day. They must draw an illustration to show the similarities or the differences, write an essay outlining these aspects and to deliver an announcement about these changes.
Summative outline:
Medieval Times Announcement
Instructions
Working with a partner, you will be
researching an aspect of medieval times and comparing it to the same aspect of
today’s society. Within your summative, you need to focus on Form – what
it is like, Change – how it is changing, how has it changed, and Connection
– how is it connected to other things. For example, you might be researching the
delivery of daily news. In this case you would compare ways we receive news
today to how people in the medieval times might have received news. In this
summative, you will use your notes, books, and the internet to expand your
knowledge and understanding of life in the middle ages.
Summative groups:
Charlotte & Emily
Vaibhav & Aashrith
Ali & Lennard
Meekaal, Abdul & Bilal
Jacob & Neel
