Quote of the Day - Bringing a little inspiration to your day!
To celebrate Black History Month, each day there will be a picture and some information posted on our blog about an African-Canadian or African-American figure in history. Happy Black History Month!:
ROSA PARKS
Take a look at what we accomplished today!
ROSA PARKS
Inquiry into Math:
Today the grade 4s wrote their Unit 4 - Decimals test. Test results will be sent home next week.
We will also be starting our next unit, Unit 3 - Geometry. During this unit, the grade 4s will learn how to sort and name polygons by their sides and angles, measure, name and construct angles, construct triangles, given the side and angle measures, and to identify and construct nets of solids.
Inquiry into Language:
Today we tied our language period with Black History Month! We read a brief article about Rosa Parks and the role she played in the Civil Rights Movement.
We then answered a few follow up questions about what we read:
After that, we talked about the message behind Rosa Parks actions. The class came to the conclusion that Rosa Parks was standing up for what she believed in; even when her life was at stake she stood up for what she believed in. Another message that we gathered from the reading was that all people are created equal no matter what they look like. To celebrate this the grade 4s drew a picture of themselves riding the bus as equals with Rosa Parks, regardless of where they are sitting.
Tomorrow is the Annual Oral Competition for grades 4 - 8 will. Good luck to all the participants in tomorrow's competition.

Unit of Inquiry:
Today the grade 4s wrapped up our World Religions unit by reflecting on our work throughout the unit and the moments that we enjoyed the most.
After reflecting, the grade 4s worked on brainstorming a few ideas that come to mind when they think of the Medieval Times. They began working on their title pages and have been encouraged to bring in items that represent the Middle Ages.
