Inquiry into Math:
Today we explored volume. We discovered that volume is a measurement of how much space an object takes up. When we are trying to calculate volume we have to take three things into consideration, the objects length, width, and height. Once we have identified these three things, we can then put them into a formula to calucate how much space the object takes up.
V = l x w x h
= u³
Here is an example:
V = l x w x h
= u³
Here is an example:
Since we are working with 3-Dimensional figures, our answer will be represented in cubic units - the units used to measure volume. The volume of a unit cube whose length, width and height are 1 unit each is 1 cubic unit. If the type of measurement is stated (cm, m, mm, etc.) then, for example, our answer would be cm³.
Inquiry into Language:
Today we worked on editing our rough copies of our reports with a partner. We will be writing our OWA report test on Thursday, October 31st.

Unit of Inquiry:
Tody we looked at transparent, translucent, and opaque materials. Students broke up into 4 different groups and walked around the school to find materials that could be identified as transparent, translucent, or opaque. Before the activity began the class was given examples of each term, but they were not given the definition. There task was to see if they could find materials that were the same as each example and then they had to think about how they could define each term.
In the end this is what we discovered:
Yesterday we talked about the Scientific Method and variables in an experiement. Today we reviewed what variables are and worked on a worksheet to identify independent, dependent, and controlled variables. They are to continue that worksheet for homework today.
