All About Me

My name is Nicole Samuel and I am one of the Grade 4 teachers for this upcoming school year. I have been a teacher at SJA since January 2018 and this will be my third-year teaching Grade 4.

I am a graduate of Central Michigan University Elementary Education Program and an Alum of the CMU Women’s Soccer Team.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy being physically active (soccer is my favourite sport, go Manchester United!), watching movies, working on "do it yourself" crafts, and spending time with my family. I can hardly wait to get to know all of you!

On December 17, 2019, students from Grade 3 to Grade 8 will put on two performances at the St. Jude’s Academy Dome. Our afternoon performance will begin at 1:00 pm, with doors opening at 12:30. Our evening performance will begin at 6:30 pm, with doors opening at 6:15 pm. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis. Please keep in mind that outside food and drinks are not permitted in the Dome.

For our evening performance, families are welcome to take our shuttle from St. Jude’s to the Dome and back. Shuttles will begin running from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Please meet in the main office.

We encourage all families to come bundled up to stay warm and cozy for the entire show. The students and teachers have put a tremendous amount of work into their performances and kindly ask that all families stay and enjoy the show until the end.

The SJA Parent Guild will be holding a 50/50  Draw during the evening Christmas Concert on December 17. See attached flyer for details.

Inquiry into Math:

Today we had a Christmas Concert rehearsal. We had a private rehearsal session with Mr. Oliver to help us fine tune our dance steps. We brainstormed a few ideas to helps us remember the moves like counting out the steps using a 4 count or an 8 count. We also noted that it is helpful to know the lyrics of the song because we can use certain verses as a point of reference when remembering our dance steps.

Inquiry into Language:
Today we wrote our lesson 14 spelling test. Spelling test scores will be sent home on Monday.

We continued working on our rough drafts for our second OWA task. Students also worked on their DRAs.

Unit of Inquiry:
This afternoon we had a full run through of the entire show from start to finish. We got to watch the other classes perform and watch all the hard work they put into their performances. It was fun being able to see the stories of the Christmas villains come to life on the stage! On Monday we will have the full dress rehearsal!

For our dress rehearsal on Monday, please ensure the following items are at school:
