Inquiry into Language:
We read chapter 19 of our Anne of Green Gables novel. Anne has been studying very hard to pass her college exam. She is a bit nervous though because she really wants to get a good score, so much that she really wants to beat Gilbert. In the end all goes well; not only does Anne pass her exam, but she gets the highest score in the class. It turns out that Gilbert got the highest score too!
This chapter sparked a great conversation. It's more important to be in competition with yourself rather than with your peers, because all our abilities are so special and different. We talked about how focusing on competing with others can cause us to rush and not do our best work. When we compete with only ourselves we can set attainable goals and use them as motivation rather than competing with our friends and potentially becoming jealous of their success. Great conversation today class!
Your child's task is to finish reading chapter 20 for tomorrow's class. They also must complete their novel study role as a Travel Tracer. For this role, your child must
International Day Preparation
Our annual International Day is quickly approaching and will take place on Thursday, October 17th. This year the country we will be learning about is Brazil. Next week we will begin dedicating some of our Language periods to divide up the project responsibilities, researching and putting together a fabulous presentation on our country. Partners or small groups will research one of the following topics; clothing, food, imports/exports, laws/regulations, holidays, sports/toys, etc. Students will need devices and books from a local library to complete their research. Thank you for your support.

4. Hand in completed spelling activities on Wednesdays
