Inquiry into Math:
Today we worked on finding the perimeter and area of a rectangle. We talked about some formulae that can help us to solve the perimeter of a rectangle: P = s + s + s + s or P = (2 x s) + (2 x w). You can also use this formula to find the perimeter of a square: P = 4 x s
Here are some examples:
Calculating the are of a rectangle can be pretty simple. All you have to do is multiply the length by the width and you will get the measurement inside your rectangle in square units. A = l x w

Unit of Inquiry:
Our kaleidoscopes did not work with the sequins, but we did get them to work. We discovered that we didn't need sequins at all, we could just use the three mirrors inside of our kaleidoscope and we still got the same result! All you have to do is get close to a colourful object and rotate the kaleidoscope in your hand. Your object will bounce off the mirrors inside to create a cool illusion. Try out your child's kaleidoscope tonight!
Task: See if you can look up some information to help make our kaleidoscopes better.
French - Please check Mme. Stella's blog under specialist links.
