What did we do today? Well....
-Polar Expressions is back again this year and they are looking for students to have the chance to publish poems and short stories in an upcoming book. Information sheets have been sent. Students who are interested in this competition can do so on their own time, as class time will not be given. The deadline for poems is November 29th and the deadline for short stories is December 6th.
December Lunches - The lunch site is now open. It will close Wednesday, November 20th at 3:00pm
Special of the month: Spaghetti and Meatballs which is available every Friday.
All payments are to be made through quickbooks by December 6th.

Inquiry into Math:
Today we explored how to measure the perimeter of a circular object. We covered 2 methods:
We had an easier time with the string method. So we spent a little extra time learning our formulas for circumference. We watched this helpful video to understand why exactly 3.14 is special to circular objects. Seeing this visual really helped to break things down:
Tomorrow we will continue working with on understand the differences and similarities between the radius and diameter. We will also focus on how to use each formula.

Inquiry into Language:
Today during language we attended the Award Ceremony for "Science - Y - Things", also know as the Science Fair Awards in more technical terms. We celebrate the first, second, and third place winners for each class. A big congratulations goes out to: Honor for thrid place, Julia for second place, and to Aashrith for first place. Well done everyone!

Tip: silent letters – we don’t hear the sounds of those letters when we say the words
K in known , w in wrist, l in folks
H in honest, gh in flight, b in thumb
T in often *some people pronounce the t

Objective: to spell words with diphthongs ou, ow,oi, and oy
Tips: diphthong- two letters blended together to make one vowel sound
Ou and ow spell ow sound in boundary and crowded
Oi and oy spell the oy sound in poise and loyalty

The grade 4 team has also implemented a grammar practice workbook. Students will be given a grammar package on Monday that will be reviewed in class. This package to help students with developing good grammar habits, for example: capitalization, punctuation, etc. These practices will be due on Fridays.
Unit of Inquiry:
Today we wrote our Human Eye and Human Ear Quiz. Quiz scores went home this evening, please ensure that your review each diagram with your child.
